Superstar Simon Yam Loves Wales After Visiting Cardiff City FC

Superstar actor and film producer Simon Yam, a massive football fan, hopes to bring the Hong Kong All Stars football team to play at Cardiff City’s Premier League ground for a charity match one day. He said this after visiting the newly promoted side’s stadium by helicopter, 10 days ago with his wife and daughter.

He was in Wales to support his friends of more than 20 years, Lily Yeung and Eric Lui, for the grand opening of their new Chinese restaurant, situated just 2 minutes away from the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Tomb Raider actor stayed at Newport’s Celtic Manor hotel, where he also managed to fit in a few rounds on the world class Ryder cup golf course.

Simon Yam said: “I love Wales and also support Cardiff City. It’s a real family club. This is an exciting phase in the club’s history. The people in Cardiff are so friendly, and the Chinese community have be so welcoming. I have enjoyed every second of it, and will be back soon”.

Lily Yeung, who grew up north of the city in Gabalfa, Heath, and owner of Dragon Court restaurant said: “He comes to England a lot and is a very respectable family man. It was really nice that he came to our opening, it was a fantastic family oriented, enjoyable and memorable day for all who attended”.

For the footballing community in Wales (maybe apart from Swansea), much excitement is expected after Cardiff City Football club ended their 51 year absence in England’s highest division with also the club participating in their first ever Premier League campaign.
