The annual London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival

The annual London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival takes place on 29 June 2013. To mark the occasion the Royal China Group will be offering diners the chance to try Zongzi, a traditional dish served during the festival.

The London Hong Kong Dragon Boat festival takes place each year at the London Regatta Centre in the city’s Docklands, with up to 40 teams battling it out for top honours. The festival also includes live music, dragon dancing and much more.

Zongzi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. Wrapping a Zongzi neatly is a skill that is passed down through generations. The fillings used for Zongzi vary from region to region but include: red bean paste; mushrooms; chicken; and salted duck eggs.
