Chinese Charity CIAC commended by Home Office

Last week the Chairman of the Chinese Information and Consultation Centre (CIAC), Mr Edmond Yeo JP and Trustee Ms Viny Poon attended the presentation event hosted by the Immigration Enforcement, Home Office.

Edmond Yeo received the Certificate of Commendation from Ms Joanna West, the Director of the Immigration Enforcement, London and South England, in recognition of his contribution in assisting in building links between community groups and the Immigration Enforcement and the ongoing support and communication they facilitate in the communities.

Edmond Yeo thanked the Home Office for presenting this award to him. He said it is a recognition for the good work by the volunteers and hope that by actively engaging the community with the Home Office, it will promote better understanding between the two and better services for the community.

Robin Misir, National Engagement Lead: Chinese Community, London & National Home Office Immigration Enforcement, said that the CIAC has supported the disadvantaged Chinese in the past 35 years: Edmond assisted in immigration surgery to help victims of crime, domestic violence, human trafficking and the homeless; this year the Home Office has also joined CIAC at the Chinese New Year celebration, allowing the Home Office to participate in such large-scale event in the Chinese community; Edmond works tirelessly to promote the work of the Chinese community engagement, enabling them to get the messages out.
