Celebrate Year of the Sheep at BFI Southbank

February 19 marks the end of the Chinese year of the Horse and the beginning of the year of the Sheep and, to mark the occasion, BFI Southbank, throughout February and March, presents a programme of film screenings, Q&A’s and talks around Chinese cinema plus a look at New Chinese Documentary presented in partnership with the Chinese Visual FestivalCrazy Calligraphy (1)

A Time Traveller’s Guide to China will give audiences an opportunity to witness a programme of rarely seen films from the early 20th century complete with an introduction from BFI Archive Curator Edward Anderson and Peng Wenlan from the Meridian Society. Other highlights are set to include screenings of the award winning documentary The Cold Winter (2005) as well as a selection of recent examples of contemporary documentary work being produced in China.
