London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA), the organiser of the official Chinese New Year Celebration will be bringing the colourful dragon & lions dance to the popular New Year Day Parade in London tomorrow.

London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP) celebrates its 32nd year in 2018 and more than 8,500 performers representing 20 countries will take part, including Pearly Kings and Queens, cheerleaders, marching bands, dancers and representatives from West End shows.

The American-style extravaganza of musicians, a number of bands from the USA fly over to take part, dancers, acrobats, clowns and floats twirl, march and drum a 2.2-mile route beginning at the Ritz Hotel, Green Park, taking in Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and finishing at the Big Ben this year. Arrive early to secure a good vantage point, especially if you’re taking small children.

CT Tang OBE, the Chair of LCCA is pleased to join the Parade for the first time. “Every year Chinatown welcome thousands of visitors to the area to celebrate Chinese New Year, we are very excited to bring our Chinese Dragons and Lions to LNYDP. We hope the golden Dragon will bring good fortune and happiness to everyone in 2018.”

After the New Year Day Parade, Chinese New Year Celebrations will be the next major event on London’s cultural calendar. Peter Lam, the President of LCCA explained, London will be celebrating Chinese New Year on Feb 18th in 2018. It will be the year of the Dog which symbolises friendship and loyalty. We have chosen “Golden Era” as our theme for 2018 as we celebrate the friendship between the UK and China in the new era. It is a family event and everyone is welcome.
