Discover Chinatown London in a New Light

The incredible Lumiere light festival returns for a second time from 18th-21st January 2018,  bigger, brighter and bolder than ever before.

The Mayor of London and the Lumiere festival organisers, Artichoke, will transform the city, bringing fun, magic and light to the cold month of January. The artistic installations, created by more than 40 UK and international artists, will light up London’s streets, buildings and public spaces both north and south of the River Thames, creating a striking city-wide nocturnal art exhibition.

Chinatown London is proud to announce that for the first time, the streets of Chinatown will be host to a wonderful Flamingo Flyway Lumiere installation. Created by the ever-imaginative Jo Pocock and the Lantern Company, these extraordinary flame coloured birds will waft serenely above and amongst the crowds in Chinatown London at the heart of London’s West End.

This striking installation will see giant flamingos suspended above the streets of Chinatown London, as well as mobile birds, lit and operated by puppeteers that will wander through Wardour, Gerrard and Lisle Street, delighting Londoners and visitors alike from 18th – 21st January 2018.

You’re right in the heart of Chinatown London, which is the perfect place for to refuel before seeing other West End installations. Spot the ornate gates and Chinese decorations, before sitting down to enjoy Cantonese classics at Plum Valley, hotpot specials at Shuang Shuang, tasty dumplings at Dumplings Legend, or cocktails at Opium and Experimental Cocktail Club.
