The team who brought Russian soprano Ekaterina Lekhina to St George’s Hall last year, are now appealing to a new generation of opera fans by bringing Metropolitan Opera baritone, Yunpeng Wang, to the city for his British debut later this month.
The Plácido Domingo’s Operalia awarded Yunpeng Wang accompanied by David Walters and special guest the celebrated soprano Ingrid Kertesi on Sunday 24 January 2016.
The January concert is the British debut for the extraordinary young artist Yunpeng who has been instrumental in breathing new life into the genre. The Chinese born baritone was one of the winners of Placido Domingo’s Operalia, the World Opera Competition, which is like the Olympic Games for opera, where opera singers from all over the world compete for the coveted title. He has since performed in concerts worldwide and has been invited to be a special guest of many Plácido Domingo’s concerts among others.
The exciting programme features popular opera, operetta and Spanish masterpieces including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Gioachino Rossini The Barber of Seville, Charles Gounod Romeo and Juliet and many more.
This will be the second in a series of four concerts presented by GuliAnd Management. The Liverpool Opera – Four Seasons (LO4) introduces the stars of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia, the World Opera Competition featuring excellent, worldwide celebrated opera stars who have appeared in the likes of Teatro alla Scala, Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and London’s Royal Opera House.
Yunpeng will be joined by special guest, celebrated soprano and lead artist of many European opera house, Ingrid Kertesi at St George’s Hall on January 24. David Walters, a tutor at Hope University will provide the accompaniment.
