Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) played host to an event celebrating the rich culture of China’s Sichuan province.

“Cultural China and Splendid Sichuan” was held recently in QMUL’s Octagon Hall.

The event featured a myriad of cultural experiences highlighting the ancient Shu culture and the landscape of Sichuan, including an arts exhibition, a Tianfu Longya Tea ceremony and a theatre performance.

It was co-sponsored by the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

The celebration was attended by up to 500 guests, including many high-profile figures from British Government officials, representatives from the City Hall and City Council of London, officials from the Chinese government and the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, and senior academics from QMUL and other institutions.
