SUSTAIN – New Contemporary Public Art Commission for Chinatown London

SUSTAIN is a new contemporary public art commission for Chinatown London on the corner of Gerrard Place/Shaftesbury Ave produced by Chinatown Arts Space in partnership with Asia House and funded by Shaftesbury PLC. This project aims to deliver public art that fully captures the imagination of all those that visit, work or live in and around London’s vibrant Chinatown. Creative director David Tse would like Nee Hao readers to give feedback on the four designs (one will be commissioned by the CAS Selection Panel).

From a longlist of 49 international East Asian sculptors, a shortlist of 4 finalists has been drawn up. Each design was conceived with sustainability at its heart. The sculpture will be located in the West End for a minimum of 10 years, and the Panel would like to hear your comments, as the sculpture will be in place for a minimum of 10 years. The Selection Panel will meet on the 6th September to make a decision on which design will be commissioned, so your comments may influence the outcome.

Which one do you think is the most appealing? or shows the spirit of “Sustain” from an East Asian perspective?
