London to present a Hong Kong fashion designers showcase

A showcase of Hong Kong’s new design talent will kick off a series of events in London to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Lawrence Lee, the Chairman of Hong Kong Executives Club (HKEC) who co-organise the event explained: The event will showcase Hong Kong’s creativity, vibrancy and unique culture in a catwalk parade by up-and-coming Hong Kong fashion designers as presented by Fashion Farm Foundation, featuring the work of Daydream Nation, INJURY, KENAXLEUNG, ZO-EE and Jaycow.

Christine Yau MBE, the Chairman of the Chinese Community Centre and co-organiser, said: It is the 37th year of the Chinese Community Centre in serving the local community. The Centre keeps a close link with charity organisations in Hong Kong and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to jointly host the charity event with HKEC and HKETO. We look forward to welcome the attendance by a cosmopolitan mix of London‘s business and fashion leaders.

Hong Kong fashions are a leading force in the East Asian market and many of the show designers have recently completed successful shows in New York, Shanghai and Paris.

Priscilla To, Director General of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO), London, said: In Hong Kong, East and West mesh in many ways, making the city a thriving arts and cultural hub. Our cultural and creative industries employ more than 200 000 practitioners engaged in fields ranging from jewellery design to fashion, painting to publishing, interactive games to comics, advertising to architecture, and music production and digital media to performing arts. We hope the 20th Anniversary event in London will be the first of many future successful showcases of Hong Kong fashions in the UK.

The Hong Kong designers will debut their unique and cutting-edge women’s and men’s wear, hats, jewellery and accessories at the event and there will also be a Q&A session, with designers flying in specially for the event. Five exclusive items shown will be auctioned off after the catwalk event and will be tailor-fitted for the successful bidders. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to support the work of the central London based Chinese Community Centre.

The Hong Kong Fashion Designer Showcase is organised jointly by the Hong Kong Executives Club and the Chinese Community Centre, and is supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London.
