Olle – Korean BBQ comes to Chinatown London

Launching this month 2017, Olle is a new Korean restaurant bringing interactive BBQ dining to Chinatown London.

An exciting new addition to Chinatown London’s ever burgeoning East-Asian restaurant scene, Olle allows diners to become chefs for the night, as they cook away fresh cuts of meat and seafood at the comfort of their table.

Olle will boast top-quality Japanese and American wagyu beef, Iberico pork and other globally sourced meat and seafood. The fine cuts come as they are or marinated in traditional Korean sauces, before being sizzled to perfection by diners at their table-top BBQ grills.

Alongside premium meats and seafood, the menu offers traditional dishes such as Korean Jjigae (stew), cooked in a stone pot. The drinks menu will showcase Korean beers, alongside wine and soft drinks.

Located on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Macclesfield Street, in the heart of Chinatown London, Olle will occupy two floors. The 30-cover ground floor will feature long, communal style tables, with in-built BBQ pits. The basement, totaling 45 covers, will offer private vaults seating up to 16 guests, perfect for group dining.

Designed by Independent Korean architect Jiwon Lee, Olle will have a chic, modern Korean interior. A pastel ceramic geometric floor will compliment tones of teal and navy, wood furnishings and gold details.

Olle founder Charles Seo came to London from South Korea almost two decades ago, and in 2009 he opened Japanese restaurant Kyoto Soho. With Olle, Charles now returns to his first love of his home-country’s cuisine, fulfilling his dream of bringing authentic Korean food to London.

A keen cook himself, Charles single-handedly designed the menu at Kyoto and has been heavily involved in the menu creation at Olle, spending large amounts of time in the kitchen with Olle’s two experienced South-Korean chefs.

Charles Seo, Founder of Olle said, “Chinatown London is an exciting place to be at the moment, with a number of fresh contemporary concepts opening up amongst the established eateries. We are delighted to be bringing our passion for Korean cuisine to the neighbourhood.”
