This January, the Chinese Cricket Club, an AA Rosette award-winning restaurant, provides the perfect excuse to celebrate Chinese New Year in style.
From 27th January to 2nd February 2017, head chef Ken Wang will be cooking up a special three-course a la carte menu bursting with traditional Chinese fare that’s full of zing. Set to begin with a bang, on the night of Friday 27th January the restaurant will boast its very own traditional Lion Dance and drums performance paired with an array of fiery Baijiu cocktails.

Located within Crowne Plaza, Blackfriars, delectable dishes on the menu include corn-fed free range chicken salad served in Sichuan hot & numbing sauce, £9.80, sesame jellyfish salad, £9.00, and homemade chilli edamame Hunan style, £6.00 to start, followed by mains such as sautéed venison tenderloin with red wine black pepper sauce, £28.00, slow-stew lamb shank with Chinese red dates, £18.00, and dan-dan noodles with minced pork in chilli soup, £5.00. Rounding off the meal is a sweet black sesame rice ball, £6.50.

A Chinese New Year celebration wouldn’t be complete without a Baijiu cocktail or two. Served just in time for Baijiu Cocktail Week from 27th January to 11th February, aficionados and the adventurous can sample the concoctions in Voltaire Cocktails & Champagne Bar, located downstairs within Crowne Plaza. Made with the world’s most popular white spirit, Baijiu, known as Chinese firewater, the potions are sure to kick-start any evening. Choose the Baijiu Sling, a tasty mix of Tanqueray gin, cherry herring, Cointreau, Baijiu, Grenadine and pineapple juice; or the Baijiu Spitz, a heady fusion of Baijiu, Kamm & Sons, a dash of elderflower, lemon and Prosecco, just £9.50 each.
