The Asia House Fair 2016 – A unique pop-up extravaganza

The eighth annual Asia House Fair will take place from the 3 to 6 March 2016. Throughout the four-day event, Asia House’s magnificent London headquarters just north of Oxford Street will be transformed into a bustling bazaar where shoppers will have the chance to buy unique and unusual items not normally seen on the high street including unique jewellery, textiles, arts and crafts sourced from Asia or inspired by traditional craftsmanship.

Original and ethically-sourced items on sale this year include jewellery with natural stones from Kazakhstan; vintage kimonos from Japan; woollens from the Indian Himalayas; traditional Sri-Lankan Lace; hand embroidered textiles and jewellery from Pakistan; hand-woven throws and scarves; vintage indigo textiles; clutches and totes handmade from traditional Dhurrie textile; traditional Uzbek and Turkoman robes, and many more unique pieces from the Asian region.

This year, the Asia House Fair will host an Asian art and embroidery exhibition in the Asia House Gallery from London-based privately owned art dealership Art Rickshaw. The exhibition will showcase an exquisite collection of 100 per cent handmade silk embroidery art from Southeast Asia. Art Rickshaw will also exhibit and sell a selection of hand dyed Batik Art from Indonesia, hand-painted Tibetan Mandalas and Traditional Madhubani Art from the Indian Sub-Continent and Southeast Asia.

On the Saturday The Chocolatier will be holding a talk and tasting about the most wonderful ingredient – chocolate. Come and learn about the history and origins of chocolate as well as taste some of  their chocolate, some being wild and some even rare! You will then be treated to sample from The Chocolatier’s best-selling ranges that include candied apple coated in chocolate and dusted in cinnamon!
